This is always an exciting time for the auto industry, and most manufacturers start unveiling their next line of vehicles during the spring. As companies begin to show off their new line-ups, car enthusiasts—like us—sit back and enjoy the show. This year, we see a lot of things happening, but some of the coolest vehicles are coming from Nissan. So, what’s new with this Japanese automaker? Oh, just a few things…
Pathfinder
Nissan is updating many of its current vehicles by converting them to a hybrid powertrain. The 2014 Pathfinder is no exception. Still capable of all the power of a standard fuel engine, this Pathfinder also gets an estimated 27 miles per gallon on the highway, giving it exceptional fuel efficiency for a vehicle of its size. This Pathfinder has four-wheel-drive and a 2.5-liter supercharged engine. Tried-and-true meets new in this hybrid vehicle.
Altima
Nissan’s flagship mid-size sedan is getting an upgrade for 2014. While the 2014 model retains much of the 2013 design, Nissan is updating this Altima with a hybrid powertrain, too. What else is new? A supercharger, giving the Altima a boost in torque, will assist the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
370Z NISMO
This NISMO models retains its 350-hp 3.7-liter V-6 engine, as well as the 19-inch Rays aluminum wheels. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? The updates come mainly in the styling of the car with gray accents and sporty red pinstriping. The new steering wheel comes wrapped in faux suede for a touch a luxury.
LEAF
Nissan’s zero-emission electric vehicle sees some major updates this year, chief among them is additional production in Europe and North America. Prior to this year, the LEAF was fully manufactured in Japan. This new model includes extended driving range, more interior space, improved charging performance, and more recyclability. The front grille is getting a subtle makeover to help increase the car’s operation efficiency.
There are a lot of exciting things happening in Nissan’s new 2014 line-up. One common trend is the shift towards hybrid fuel economy with Nissan’s own newly developed hybrid powertrain engine. This shift toward hybrid cars should set a standard that other auto manufacturers should emulate.
