Winter Weather Is Over, So What Now?

The winter months are rough on both you and your car, but your car may have the harder time. When the cold weather comes, so do snow, ice, and sleet, and that means there will be salt and potholes everywhere. Now that the worst of winter is over, you can get your vehicle back in great condition.

With spring comes warm weather, which means you’ll probably want to cruise around with the windows down. Here are some things you can to do get ready.

  • Car Wash: Wait for a nice day, then park your car in the driveway and give it a much needed wash. Car wash supplies usually go on sale around this time, and you should be able to find a car wash kit for a good price. If you don’t want to wash your vehicle or think you need a more extensive wash, go to the pros and get the underbody treatment. No matter what you choose, make sure you get all of the salt and grime off your vehicle.
  • Paint Touch Ups: When you wash your car you may notice a few scratches or chips on the outside of your vehicle. Go out and get some touch-up paint and cover up the unattractive spots.
  • Clean the Inside: It can be hard to want to clean out your vehicle if you can feel your face or hands when you finish, so most people won’t take the time to clean the inside of their car during the winter months. Wait for a warm day and get all the trash and dirt out of your car.
  • Alignment and Wheel Balance: Potholes, cracks, and other irregularities in the pavement often occur during cold weather. Once it warms up, consider getting your alignment checked by a mechanic. You car will drive well, and your tires will wear more evenly.
  • Spark Plugs: The performance of your vehicle can be greatly affected if the sparkplugs are worn out. Before you do much spring motoring, you need to check to make sure that they’re functioning properly. You might be surprised by how much your vehicle’s performance improves.
