2013 NISSAN Xterra – Climate Controls

Your vehicle is equipped with a manual climate control. This is the climate control panel for adjusting air flow, fan speed and temperature inside the cabin. It is made up of two multi¬function controls and seven buttons. The two outer controls consist of a center button and an outer ring that works as a dial.

The Fan Speed Control Dial regulates fan speed at various settings. Turn it to the left for slower speed, to the right for higher speed. Turn it all the way to the left to turn the system OFF. Press the A/C button in the center of this dial, to turn the air conditioner ON or OFF.

This is the Temperature Control Dial on the right. Turn it to the left for cooler, or to the right for warmer air. For quick cooling when the temperature is high, press the MAX A/C button, in the center of this dial. The Air Flow Control buttons provide a choice of air flow outlets. Press one of the air flow control buttons; the light will illuminate.

Refer to the icon on the buttons for the various air flow combinations:
• Air will flow from center and side outlets,
• Air will flow from the defroster and foot outlets,
• Air will flow mainly from foot outlets,
• Air will flow from center, side and foot outlets.

In hot or humid conditions, a visible mist may be seen coming from the vents. This does not indicate a malfunction.

The button to the far right, on the top row is the AIR RECIRCULATION button. Press it to recirculate air inside your vehicle. An indicator will illuminate. This helps A/C efficiency and helps block outside odors from entering the cabin. Press again, to circulate outside air throughout the cabin.

To defrost or defog the front and side windows, press the DEFROSTER button on the far left. The A/C comes on automatically at temperatures above 36 degrees. This helps dehumidify the cabin and clear the windshield faster. Now turn the temperature control to a setting that will best meet weather conditions. For windshield deicing, your temperature selector should be turned to maximum heat.

Also, using the manual fan control, turn to the right for maximum fan speed. Please be aware that while in Defrost mode, the air recirculation feature will not activate. Allowing outside air to enter the vehicle further improves defogging performance.

To defrost or defog the rear window push the REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER switch. The indicator light will illuminate. After defrosting, push to turn OFF. Otherwise, this feature will turn itself off in 15 minutes.
